Film making and its links to literacy aren’t new but it can captivate and fill students
with enthusiasm. This work can also be aimed at children who need to build confidence
in Speaking and Listening skills.
We view the filmmaking process as literature in nature, involving the development,
adaptation, and telling of stories. What the pupils come to understand, about film
as a medium for communication, is how it links perfectly with authorial intent, what
an author portrays with the written word.
Whilst learning about the basic elements of filmmaking; such as image, sound, time,
motion, lighting, scenes, settings, sequence, framing, composition and camera angle.
Through these the pupils learn more about improving their writing skills. .
